THE SOLEMNITY
OF THE MOST HOLY BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST
FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
Today’s Feast of Corpus Christi (The Body & Blood of
Christ) celebrates the Holy Eucharist as the very center of our Catholic
Faith. The Church wishes to emphasize
the Real Presence of Christ in the Blessed Sacrament because down through the
centuries there were heresies that denied the Real Presence and made the Eucharist
a sort of symbol. And so the Church
sought a way to counteract these heresies by encouraging devotion to the
Blessed Sacrament with public devotion.
Today, we show our gratitude by celebrating this Feast in
a very special way. After our 10:30
a.m. Mass, the Eucharist will be carried in procession around the church for
everyone to adore and venerate. All parish
societies and organizations are asked to join the procession.

Please support the House of Charity/Bishop’s Annual
Appeal. Our Parish Goal is $13,000.
Thus far we’ve collected $6,385. I am asking everyone to contribute something to the appeal. Checks should be made payable to the House
of Charity and sent/brought to St.
Joseph’s Church. Please remember no
donation is too small to give. House of
Charity donation/pledge cards are in the pews throughout the church. Thank you for your support!
Holy Name Society – June monthly meeting is cancelled.
Rosary Society - recitation of the Rosary before the 10:30 AM Mass next week, June 1st
and monthly meeting following the Mass in the Senior Center.
St. Joseph’s Fund Raising Appeal – thus far we’ve collected $685,673.12 in pledges and cash donations from 932 donors. The beautiful
memorial Restoration Plaque listing the names of people donating $1000 or more
on “in loving memory” of someone is now in place on the Mechanic Street side
wall.
Mother’s Day Collection Envelopes – there is still time to remember your mothers by
placing their names on the special envelopes and putting them in the
collection basket. Our mothers will be
remembered at all Masses during the month of May.
Memorial Day Mass at St. Joseph’s Cemetery – Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on Monday May 26th
weather permitting. In case of rain,
Mass will be celebrated in Church.
Please Remember
our Deceased: Joyce Galasso, Becky Franchetti, Jean Schuda. May they rest in peace!
