FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
During the month of May, Catholics around the world honor the Blessed Virgin
Mary as our spiritual mother. She is so
venerated because of the unique role she played in God’s plan of
salvation. Mary became the Mother of
God. As we honor the Blessed Mother,
let us remember to honor our own mother who brought us into the world and who
has played an important part in our individual lives.
On this Mother’s Day weekend, we
congratulate all of our mothers and let us pray for them in a special way.

Please support the House of Charity/Bishop’s Annual Appeal. Our Parish Goal is $13,000. Thus far we’ve collected $4,180. I am asking everyone to contribute something to the appeal. Checks should be made payable to the House of Charity and sent/brought to St. Joseph’s Church. Please remember no donation is too small to give. House of Charity donation/pledge cards are in the pews throughout the church. Thank you for your support!
May Crowning – at our 10:30 a.m. Mass today Edmund Eugene Anyzek, III, age 8 will have the honor and privilege of crowning our Blessed Mother We pray that Mary, the Mother of God will bless him with special graces as he grows each day into becoming a fine Catholic Christian gentleman.
Easter Collection – amounted to $17,291.00. We wish to thank you for your generosity and hope God will bless you for all you do for St. Joe’s.
St. Joseph’s Fund Raising Appeal – thus far we’ve collected $684,070.52 in pledges and cash donations from 932 donors. The beautiful memorial Restoration Plaque listing the names of people donating $1000 or more on “in loving memory” of someone is now in place on the Mechanic Street side wall.
Mother’s Day Collection Envelopes – please remember your mothers by placing their names on them and putting them in the collection basket. Our mothers will be remembered at all Masses during the month of May.
Mass Honoring Our Armed Forces – Next Sunday, May 18, 2008 at our 10:30 AM Mass, our armed forces will be honored. We encourage you to invite to this Mass current and former members of the military. By each door you will find forms on which you may list the names of those currently serving. Please drop the forms in the collection basket. Prayers will be offered during the Mass for those named. Refreshments will be served in the lower parish hall after Mass. This Mass is in addition to our annual Memorial Day Mass at the St. Joe’s Cemetery on Monday, May 26th at 10 AM.
St. Mary’s Nursing Home Auxiliary will hold their annual Fashion Show on Thursday, May 22nd at 12 noon at the Tavistock Country Club, Haddonfield, N. J. Price: $40 per person. For reservations, please call Mary Lou Venella at 856-939-5963. Deadline for reservations is May 12th.
