THIRD SUNDAY OF LENT
FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
The holy season of Lent is now in
its third week. It began with a simple
yet profound gesture—the imposition of ashes in the form of a cross on our
foreheads, reminding us of our mortality and the need for repentance.
In so many ways, it appears that sin
reigns supreme in our world. The
prevalence of violence, scandal, selfishness and cruelty towards others weighs
heavily upon us. We are reminded that through the discipline of Lent, ---
prayer, fasting, sacrifice and works of charity, --- it can help us overcome
sin and temptation in our lives. With
God’s help, we can rid ourselves of temptation and sin and become better
Christians.
Let us pray that this grace-filled
period of Lent will unite us sacramentally and prayerfully with the Passion and
Death of Jesus as we journey toward Easter.
Father
Ed Lipinski
Stations of the Cross are held in our chapel
every Friday during Lent following 8 AM Mass.
All Fridays during Lent are meatless.
