SECOND SUNDAY OF LENT
FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
Last October Bishop Galante and the Diocesan
Planning Committee announced that none of the reconfiguration proposals for the
Churches in the City of Camden were approved.
Our recommendation for St. Joe’s Church was for one (1) resident priest
for the parish.
However, citing our dwindling
and small number of parishioners, they made it clear that once the
reconfiguration process was completed, our parish of St. Joe’s would no longer
be assigned a resident parish priest.
Over the past 4 months our
parish planning committee met and submitted a recommendation that St. Joseph’s
be designated a shrine to Pope John Paul II.
Hopefully this will allow our church to continue as a house of worship
for our parishioners and to serve the needs of the Polish American Catholic Community
of South Jersey.
The Bishop will announce his
decision on our recommendation and the other recommendations of the Churches in
the Diocese sometime in April.
During this penitential Season
of Lent, please pray for the future of our beloved church of St. Joseph’s.
Father
Ed Lipinski
Stations of the Cross are held in our chapel
every Friday during Lent following 8 AM Mass.
All Fridays during Lent are meatless.
Rosary Society
– please join us for the recitation of the Divine Mercy Chaplet today before
the 10:30 AM Mass.
Sacred Heart Society – will sponsor their annual Swięconka Dinner on
Sunday, March 30, 2008 at 12 noon in the lower parish hall. Price is $25.00 per ticket. Tickets will be sold after the 10:30 AM Mass beginning next week, February 24th
or you may contact Ann Stasiewicz at 227-6147.
Deadline will be March 15th.
No tickets will be sold at the door.
St. Joseph’s Fund Raising Appeal – thus far we’ve collected $672,350.08mk in pledges and cash donations from 897 donors. The beautiful memorial Restoration Plaque listing the names of
people donating $1000 or more on “in loving memory” of someone is now in place
on the Mechanic Street side wall. Only
a few empty spots still remain on our plaque.
Reminder: please remember your loved ones by having a
Mass said for them. There are still quite
a few open dates for weekday Masses only
in 2008.
After Mass please return the Missalettes to the table near
the doors and take home the Church Bulletin.
Please don’t leave them in the
pews. Thank You!
