FOURTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
As we open the Season of
Lent with Ash Wednesday, we should prepare ourselves
for
the Feast of our Salvation --- Easter, (March 23rd) by prayer,
fasting and almsgiving. The word
“Lent”
means “spring.” We pray that this
Lenten Season of grace will lead us to an internal
conversion
and a new spring time of renewed growth in the Lord.
On Ash Wednesday, Mass will be at 8
AM and 5 PM and blessed ashes will be distributed
after
Mass. Remember that Ash Wednesday is a
day of fast and abstinence. All Fridays
during Lent
are
days of abstinence (meatless).
Stations of the Cross will be held
in our chapel every Friday during Lent after the 8 AM Mass. Please make the sacrifice and plan to
attend.
Father
Ed Lipinski
After
all the Masses this weekend, throats will be blessed in Honor of St. Blaise,
Bishop and Martyr.
On Sunday, February 10th after our 10:30 AM Mass we
will recite the Rosary as a community
dedicated
to the Blessed Virgin Mary as we honor the 150th Anniversary of
Mary appearing to
St. Bernadette at the
Grotto of Lourdes in France. Please join us on that
special day!
Donut Day – this Sunday,
February 3rd – everyone is invited after the 9 AM & 10:30 AM Mass to the lower
parish hall for donuts and coffee.
The
Contribution Statements for your weekly collections have been received
from Our Sunday Visitor. Should you
need a statement for your taxes, please call the rectory.
St. Joseph’s Fund Raising Appeal – thus far we’ve collected $672,459.73 in pledges
and cash donations from 897 donors. The beautiful memorial Restoration Plaque listing the names of
people donating $1000 or more on “in loving memory” of someone is now in place
on the Mechanic Street side wall. Only
a few empty spots still remain on our plaque.
Reminder: please remember your loved ones by having a
Mass said for them. There are
quite a few open dates for weekday Masses in 2008. Also, there are just a few open weeks
in 2008 to remember your
loved ones by having our Sanctuary Lamp
lit in their memory.
After Mass please return the
Missalettes to the table near the doors and take home the
Church Bulletin. Please
don’t leave them in the pews. Thank You!
